HuaSheng Graphite Group owns two large graphite mines in Tanzania. The first mine has total reserves of 168 million tons, with minable resources of 25 million tons and a fixed carbon grade of 15%, producing 100,000 tons of large-flake graphite concentrate annually. The second mine has total reserves of 96 million tons, with minable resources of 14.4 million tons, and a mining lifespan of up to 100 years. The mines are strategically located, making extraction and transportation highly efficient, and the final graphite products can be conveniently shipped to Dar es Salaam Port.
Tanzanian graphite concentrate undergoes deep processing at the Hainan Yangpu Project to produce spherical graphite, anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, expandable graphite, and composite graphite. The graphite concentrate from Tanzania is of exceptionally high quality, with +100 mesh large flake graphite content exceeding 60%, making it a highly sought-after raw material for expandable graphite and graphene raw material. The spherical graphite boasts high purity and a high spheroidisation yield, outperforming similar domestic products. Anode materials are experiencing strong market demand, with an average annual growth rate of 20%. Expandable graphite is widely used in refractory materials and sealing applications, with stable market demand.
Tanzania Graphite Deep Processing Industrial Park
The Tanzania Graphite Deep Processing Industrial Park covers an area of 300,000 square meters, includes production lines with an annual output of 20,000 tons of ultra-pure graphite, 30,000 tons of lithium battery anode and cathode materials, 10,000 tons of fine graphite, 10,000 tons of spherical graphite, 10,000 tons of expandable graphite, and 10,000 tons of high-carbon graphite. Supporting facilities include a substation, wastewater treatment plant, packaging bag plant, and employee accommodations. The residential area covers 10,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 600 employees.
Graphite concentrate production will take place near the mining sites outside the industrial park, with an annual processing capacity of 100,000 tons. The company utilises open-pit mining and flotation technology, achieving a recovery rate of 85% and a fixed carbon grade of over 94% in the concentrate. Tailings will be repurposed into foam ceramics for construction materials, with an annual processing capacity of 700,000 cubic meters and a fixed carbon content of 99.99%. Lithium battery anode materials are produced using spherical graphite coating technology, achieving a fixed carbon content of 99.95%. Fine graphite and high-carbon graphite are respectively manufactured using high-speed jet milling and mixed-acid purification processes.
